On 23rd November, a training session was held in Genova at GISIG premises for ten students from the Geology and Environmental Engineering departments of the University of Genoa, who were selected to carry out a household survey in the Bisagno case study site (Genoa, Italy) within WP1 of the PEARL project. The course was taught by Benedikt Rilling from the University of Stuttgart, the partner responsible for the household surveys, and GISIG, the local organisation in charge of the pilot study. By participating to the training, the Municipality of Genova – Civil Protection Department – showed its endorsement of the activity and offered support at the local level. During its intervention, it informed the students about the territorial and management issues concerning hydro-geological emergencies and provided them some basic notions to be communicated to the interviewees. As the outcome of a strong and profitable cooperation between GISIG and the University of Stuttgart, this initiative gave undergraduates the opportunity to experience at first hand fieldwork in the framework of water resources management.
