“Resilient Cities 2016 – Annual Global Forum on Urban Resilience and Adaptation” will take place from 6 to 8 July 2016 in Bonn, Germany. Under the slogan “Where local impacts find a world of solutions“, Resilient Cities represents a global platform for urban resilience and climate change adaptation, organized by ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability and co-hosted with the City of Bonn, Germany.
The program of 2016 will focus on different key topics (see table below), but will pay specific attention to three aspects:
- Inclusive and Resilient urban development (theme 3);
- Financing Urban Resilience (theme 4) – with a special forum for the second consecutive year; and
- Implementing Global Frameworks (theme 9) – providing an international platform for the first annual review of local progress on the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction and the urban resilience targets of the Sustainable Development Goals, as well as an opportunity to reflect on outcomes of the Paris Climate Conference (COP21) and preparations for Habitat III, the UN Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development 2016.
The event will include a variety of sessions, from high-level plenaries, thematic forums, and parallel thematic sessions which will feature discussions on a range of new and recurring themes related to urban resilience and adaptation.
Proposals for presentations, panels, workshops, posters, Reality Check Workshops, trainings, co-events and other formats will be accepted till 15 January.
