PostDoc, UNESCO-IHE

My name is Arlex Sanchez Torres. I work as Post-Doc researcher for the project PEARL at the department of Environmental Engineering and Water Technology. PEARL is about preparing for extreme and rare hydro meteorological events in Europe.

My professional background is Sanitary Engineering. I worked as researcher and project officer in Cinara – Univalle, one of the main partners of Unesco-IHE in Latin America, for several years.
I also participated in the Junior Professional Officer’s programme of IRC (International Water and Sanitation Centre) some years ago.

I did my Master of Science and PhD studies at Unesco-IHE in the department of Hydroinformatics, focusing in modeling urban water systems and urban growth.

Within the project PEARL, my main tasks will be undertaking research in the field of holistic and multiple risk assessment of urban water systems and assist with the overall management of the project.

I live in The Netherlands with my wife and two children; David, who is 3 and Ailèn who is 6 years old.

I am looking forward to work with all of you and to face the new challenges ahead.
